How Simpl Fulfillment Works

If you’re interested in becoming a Simpl Fulfillment customer, you’ll meet with a sales rep who will take time to learn about your business and needs. Once it’s decided that there’s a mutual benefit, you’ll start the onboarding process. You’ll get an account that you can set up with your inventory and shipping method preferences.

You’ll be able to connect your store and ship your inventory to the warehouse. From within the dashboard, you’ll be able to check the fulfillment status of your inventory at any time. You can quickly check inventory levels and set up inventory alerts to ensure items are always in stock.

Once inventory arrives at the warehouse, it will be received within one to three business days. However, it’s possible it will be received the same business day. You’ll have inventory tracking access from start to finish.

When it is time to send more inventory, you’ll fill out a purchase order that outlines the SKUs and quantities of each SKU in the inbound shipment.

Simpl Fulfillment has pre-negotiated affordable shipping rates with major carriers such as UPS, USPS, and FedEx. These rates are based on volume, which allows them to pass the savings on to you.

Shipping costs are based on the final package weight. Packages are rounded up to the next pound, so a 2.2-pound package and a 2.9-pound package bill at the same rate. This falls in line with the way carriers charge their rates.

Customers are allowed to use their own carrier accounts. However, there is a fee charged. Since using your own shipping carrier pulls away from their shipping volume, which affects the shipping rates they can offer other customers, the fee compensates.

Beware

Beware... this company is unethical and uses FAKE REVIEWS to build its image. The owner Barrett Shepherd is highly unethical, and should NOT be trusted with anyone's business/inventory. We have paid 500$ deposit to create an account with this company. They said to us that this money need to be paid upfront and will be deducted after we will start to ship with them. After a few questions the Boss Barrett Shepherd start to ignoring us. After that we decided not to ship our products to this company and want the deposit money of 500$ back. Since over 6 months he don't reply to us and don't want to transfer us the money back. P.S. After this review we received direct an e-mail from him , that we should to remove this review otherwise he will take legal actions, because it is against the TOS. I think he had never heard of Consumer Review Fairness Act.

The WORST 3PL in the US

Client places order -> Products are ordered -> (shipped to warehouse) -> Shipped to client -> client places order
MUST READ THIS! - The WORST 3PL in the US. (If you don't want to read everything just skip to the end and read Sum up)
Generally, I don't write negative reviews because I don't want to spread negativity but what Simpl has been doing past 7 months has been unheard of AND I CERTAINLY DON'T WANT THE SAME TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.
How it started: I've found out about Simpl on google as I needed warehouse in Texas. Reached out to them, scheduled a call with Damon (director/owner of the company). Everything went well, he explained all the details and sounded very reasonable. He mentioned if I wanted to close the fulfillment contract, there is no penalty, I should just let them know like 1 month upfront or so. They were fulfilling my eBay orders. At the beginning, everything was fine. But then it started.
  1. Initially, the products that they were receiving from my supplier were taking about 2-3 weeks till they were available to be shipped.
  2. Shipping started to be late even though the orders came in previous days.
  3. THE ONLY COMMUNICATION with them is through emails where the response time varies from 2-4 days.
I started to see they were overcharging - BY A LOT. I had a rough calculation how much should I be billed based on my sales and the contract which stated the costs for their services.
I reached out to Barrett (one of the managers) and asked them to review it. I had to ask 3 times before he got back to me. He said he didn't find any irregularities and mistakes and that everything is fine. But I knew something is wrong.
So I had to go through all of their charges, compare it to tracking codes from their provided google sheet and their internal system.
2 things happened: 1) Instead of agreed $7.50 per envelope they were charging $10.20!! When I confronted them about it they said it's because Fedex increased prices. I called Fedex and they said they haven't increased any prices in recent months.
2) They were double charging for every order on top. Simply duplicate charges. Not sure if it was a problem in their system or it was intentional.
Either way, if I hadn't checked myself, they would have still claimed "we haven't found any problem but if you find anything let us know".
(Imagine instead of running your business you have to fix their mistakes).
Then I changed my business model and I had to change the warehouse. Reached out to them that I want to void the contract. Do you remember when I mentioned Damon was very reasonable and said I should just let them know a bit upfront? Well, they said there is 3-month period where I have to pay their monthly minimum charges and only then they will release products and send them out!
It gets better. After going back and forth asking them for all the costs, fees, monthly charges and everything so I can pay it (there was a big mess in billing because of the extra charges they did etc.) and move forward I finally managed to pay everything. We agreed that I won't need to wait the 3 months if everything is paid. (And why would I? It literally doesn't make sense if everything is paid).
The problem is Barret's response time increased to like 2-3 weeks, I am not exaggerating.
They were making tons of excuses they can't send products out because they are understaffed and COVID and what not... BUT FOR 6 MONTHS!!! 6 MONTHS and the same story again and again.
Finally we got tired so my partner flew to Texas PERSONALLY from EUROPE to solve it because it was just impossible to talk to them.
When my partner arrived to the warehouse, they have given him just portion of our inventory claiming that's all there is. We knew there has to be more so he went there back again. They threatened that they will call police that there are no more inventory from us. Luckily, there was a nice warehouse worker that checked and he actually found more of our inventory!!!
Now you are probably thinking: "ok, these guys had a bad experience but others are doing fine"...WRONG!
After being at the warehouse waiting for products for about 2 hours, a guy arrived with 3 big trucks. Him and my partner started to talk. Guess what. He had EXACTLY the same issues - Double charges, non-existent communication, holding their inventory for no reason, refusing to ship it out... He had to involve a lawyer to get it sorted and even then he had to come personally to take products. Turned out he had there $500,000 worth of inventory!! And he said there are many more people having problems with Simpl!!
Sum up: I have no idea how this company can still function. Double-charging their clients, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE communication, SUPER INCOMPETENT, scammy behaviour, they will hold your products and will refuse to ship it out until you pay the fees that they literally made up. I am highly SUGGESTING to you to AVOID this company if you don't want to lose money as we did and many others as well.
